Jocelyn Manuel builds the engines that let growing organizations do more of what they’re great at. She has spent nearly 20 years building the systems that keep growing organizations running (people operations, budgets, partnerships, and workplace strategy) in settings ranging from fast-moving startups to community nonprofits.
Jocelyn has worn just about every operations hat. As Chief of Staff at a high-growth startup, she built inclusive recruiting processes and performance systems from the ground up. As Head of Real Estate and Operations at a healthcare startup, she opened clinics in new markets while building the operational backbone (hiring, onboarding, and facilities) to support rapid growth. At a global financial services firm, she orchestrated the relocation of 400 employees to a new campus. And as a culture and workplace consultant, she helped organizations align their physical spaces with their culture and ways of working.
Jocelyn’s nonprofit roots run deep. At WestEd, a leading education R&D agency, she managed a $10M portfolio of federally funded programs, and served as Associate Director of a small grassroots nonprofit. Currently she leads the Kohala Oral History Project, a community oral-history, documentary, and youth-media organization in Hawaiʻi she has built from the ground up: securing grants, forging school and media partnerships, and producing a documentary broadcast on PBS Hawaiʻi.
At Gravity Collective, Jocelyn partners with Shannon on revenue, hiring, and operations, bringing her experience building and scaling organizations to help the firm grow to its next stage.
Her superpower: building organizations that run efficiently without losing the people, trust, and culture that make them worth running. Jocelyn holds an MBA from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business and a B.A. in Economics from Reed College.
